CRT Group Achieves Environmental Milestone
CRT Group is celebrating a major achievement in environmental management.
The company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of QR, now has Environmental Management System certification (AS/NZS ISO 14001:2004) across all of its branches throughout Australia, reinforcing its strong commitment to sustainability.
CRT Group CEO, Cameron Dunn explains why the certification is such a key milestone for the business.
"As a national logistics provider, we realise the seriousness of demonstrating sound environmental performance. CRT Group is committed to developing an integrated management system that provides a strong basis for our environmental strategies".
The Integrated Management System of CRT Group has been in place for several years, having achieved Quality Management System certification to the internationally recognised ISO 9001 standard in 1995 and Occupational Health and Safety management system certification to AS/NZS 4801 in 2006.
Mr Dunn says sustainability has been a key focus for CRT Group´s business for many years.
"CRT Group is not a newcomer to introducing environmentally-sustainable practices, as the foundation of our business has been built on sound intermodal solutions incorporating road, rail and sea."
"We have invested heavily in people, technology and management systems, which along with our certifications to ISO and AS/NZS standards, demonstrates our proactive nature in the core areas of safety, quality and the environment".
"Our customers and suppliers can be assured they are dealing with a logistics services provider that has clear ´chain of responsibility´ management, product stewardship protocols and carbon management strategies", he said.
"To ensure the system continues to operate to the required standard over time, regular audits of performance against the standard will be carried out by specialist independent audit organisations".
Lead Assessor from DLIQ Certification Services, Jeremy Long explains the commitment required to achieve certification.
He said, "The certification to ISO 14001 is testament to the importance that CRT Group places on their impact on the environment, process improvement and their genuine commitment to environmental management strategies. Their leadership in this area is highly commendable", said Mr Long.
