CRT Group chooses Volvo for Euro 5 expansion
Leading Australian logistics company, CRT Group, continues to expand its fleet and reduce its environmental footprint through the purchase of the latest low emission trucks from Volvo.
CRT has bought and taken delivery of two Euro-5 Volvo FM480s and has ordered another eight of the innovative vehicles, which are accredited to the stringent Euro 5 standard, which limits vehicle exhaust emissions.
The deal continues the 20-plus year relationship between Volvo and CRT, a wholly owned subsidiary of national transport and logistics company QR.
Chief Executive Officer, Cameron Dunn, said the purchase continued CRT Group’s long history of seeking innovative ways that add value in key areas such as safety, quality and environmental care.
“Going to Euro 5 now, years ahead of schedule, demonstrates clearly that CRT Group is committed to environmental responsibility. We’re not just paying lip service to the idea; we will continue to invest heavily in safe and sustainable technology across the business, not just in our trucking operations,” Mr Dunn said.
CRT Group has secured accreditations to standards in the critical areas of safety, quality and environment, such as AS/NZS 4801, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001:2004.
“We are always looking for ways to reduce our environmental impact and the carbon footprint of our customers. Volvo’s FM480s are quite simply the best Euro 5-accredited trucks available, which is why we’ve bought ten of them,” he said.
CRT Group provides transport and logistics solutions using road, rail, sea and air to a broad range of industries, handling materials such as food, plastics, industrial products and specialty chemicals (dangerous and hazardous goods).
“CRT Group is precisely the sort of company we like to do business with because its core values are the same as ours,” CEO of Volvo Commercial Vehicles Australia, Peter Hertinge noted.
“At Volvo, we understand that reducing carbon emissions has become a key driver for end customers. Progressive logistics businesses like CRT need innovative vehicles like the FM480 now. CRT Group also has an outstanding reputation for safety, and these Volvo FM480s will go a long way to ensuring that they maintain this reputation in the future."
In line with its motto of ‘Better ways’, CRT Group is always seeking new practices that deliver better service and value to its customers.
One example of the Group’s innovative approach is the CRT Pod Trailer TM which was designed by CRT Group’s engineering team. The trailer is mounted with a stainless steel chamber that uses a vacuum pressure cycle to convey powdered products safely and rapidly.
Mr Dunn said CRT Group had enjoyed a strong relationship with Volvo for over two decades now and the two companies continued to collaborate on development projects.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the new FM480s out on the road, because they’ll be carrying more than just goods, they’ll be carrying the message that our organisations can work together to change things for the better,” he said.
